Zhangye lies in the center of the Hexi Corridor, along which Buddhism entered China. You can find many spectacular Buddhist sites in this city, such as the Mati Temple and Dafo Temple, especially the big Buddha statue in Dafo Temple, which is the longest wooden reclining Buddha in China.
The other famous tourist attractions are the colorful Danxia National Geopark and Binggou Danxia Geopark, a less tourist and more adventurous site.
