Overview – Park 1903

Park 1903, is a new entertainment and retail complex in Kunming, including outlets, an art gallery, a modern-design bookstore, kid playground, cinema, theatre, and plenty of retail spaces and restaurants, integrating a conventional shopping mall experience with arts, entertainment, and innovative workshops.​​

Park 1903 is divided into three volumes integrating retail, entertainment, performance arts, community spaces, which is conceived as a dynamic meeting point with diverse activities focused on arts and culture, introducing the people in Kunming into some cultural and vibrant lifestyle.

Health, culture, leisure, and education smoothly blend together to offer a spectacular architectural experience, ensuring its transformation into a fascinating reference point of urban construction. The main perimeter bodies comprising shopping center, food court, workshops, and activity areas along with the anchor stores, will hold the core uses, while the theatre central to the whole building, is designed around flexibility and adaptability to accommodate with different stages and setups depending on audience and usage.

Encased in an ‘urban curtain’ that acts as a frame for the airy public park, the 3 volumes will be consciously future-proofed, with the ability to be adapted to host a variety of events, such as art projects, bicycle parking, water, and light installations, performances.

Contemporary Gallery Kunming

Contemporary Gallery Kunming is a non-profit art institution sponsored by Kunming Top River Group and dedicated to fostering professionalism and public knowledge in the artistic ecosystem of Yunnan Province. Through a program of local and international exhibitions, research, outreach activities, and other exchanges, CGK aims to serve both the local art industry and the general public through objective analysis of Yunnan’s contemporary art history and comprehensive presentation of the latest trends and creative output in modern art.

Yan Ji You Bookstore

Yan Ji You Bookstore, designed by the famous Japanese architect Shuhei Aoyama, is a complex of bookstore, café & restaurant, art gallery, and Cultural and Creative Products. For the locals, it is known as the most beautiful lakeside bookstore in China, but it has a strange name even for the local Chinese, Yan Ji You (言几又). The name is a deconstruction of the character 設, as in 設計, the word for “design.” When you break down the character 設 into three parts, it comes Yan Ji You (言几又).

Dream Park

Dream Park is the theme park inside the Park 1903. It contains an indoor playground and an outdoor park. The indoor part includes the future world and the small world, while the outdoor region with three major theme parks: Candy Kingdom, Magic Academy, and Ice and Snow World. It mainly serves parents and teenagers between 3 and 35 years old. Sightseeing parachuting towers, Hurricane flying chairs, Jurassic quests, angry birds, and many other high-tech and exciting experience rides are available.
