Insider View

Fenghuang is a famous ancient town with Miao and Tujia ethnic minority characteristics. It is more stunning with the illumination at night. However, some think it is overdeveloped and too commercialized compared with other ancient cities. If you have visited some of the ancient villages in Guizhou or Yunnan, then you can skip the place or visit the Furong Town instead.

Rainbow Bridge lies across the Tuojiang River. The bridge has two floors. The first floor is a pedestrian passage, where visitors can go across the river. The second floor overlooks the ancient city, which is also one of the best viewing spots in the place.

The Tuojiang River is the mother river of the ancient city of Fenghuang. The clear water and grass are swaying. In the early morning, the Tuojiang River is sometimes heavily foggy, and the local residents thumped their laundry by the river, which is one of the most beautiful scenes in the ancient city.

The stilt house is one of the ancient buildings with strong Miao architectural characteristics in the ancient city of Fenghuang, and it is also the largest group of stilt houses in China. The best place to see Diaojiaolou is around Shawan, or sitting on a wooden boat on the Tuojiang River.
