Overview – Ant Workshop (Ant House)

Ant Workshop is located in Xizhuang Town, Jianshui County, which is less than 5 kilometers away from Jianshui Ancient City. It is designed by the famous local architect Luo Xu, the “Gaudi of Yunnan”.

Built from an abandoned brick factory, makes it a famous place that turns waste into treasure. Many traces of the brick-burning kilns have been preserved, such as the Ant Tower and the small island built from the wasted bricks in the lake outside. The design is related to the designer’s life experience when he first entered society. At the age of 16, his first job was to burn porcelain in a porcelain factory, so Luo Xu retained the main kilns of the old factory and turned them into the main attraction and Functional area.

Like a big maze built with hollow bricks, when walking inside, there is a feeling of time and space travel. The main building of Ant Workshop is pink and white. All the buildings are developed according to the ceramic culture, including pottery-themed hostels, dining, and pottery experiencing spaces.
